(SMEs) regularly share confidential files via email, why?

Having managed a compliance, risk and security team in my recent past. I know what I’m talking about. I did this across Europe covering off one hundred and forty applications in nineteen countries. it is so expensive and embarrassing when you lose your business data. Your clients tend to look elsewhere after data leaks and compromises.

The latest article by James Coker Reporter from info security magazine, suggests that Nearly half (46%) of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) regularly share confidential files via email. This despite the fact very few have updated their security since working from home due to the virus. The full article can be read here

There is a simple solution to this problem. Move the transfer of your business data behind close doors, use collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams; Dropbox business; Huddle; Citrix Sharefile and Google Business Apps. I only wrote about this last week.

So, don’t get caught with your pants down. Move your data files and business chatter to an application in the clouds. For example, collaborate from anywhere. Never do that frantic, searching-for-files thing ever again. In Teams you can access, share, and edit Word docs, PowerPoint, and Excel files in real time.

Cloud services for the SMB owners

Small to medium-size business owners are often fighting a losing battle when it comes to implementing technology that works for them, with the expense being the major cause for lack of technology adoption.

As a SME business, cloud technologies are definitely worth looking at. They carry the impact that an in-house solution would provide, however, without the costs of space used, in-house admin and hardware. In simple terms cloud computing is accessing some digital resource or service, which is not installed locally on your computer. It is a way of consolidating your digital resources into one accessible solution, where every you are. It’s an appealing prospect.
