I was reminded today of the new employment law changes that came into affect in April. I spent a few years working with HR functions, helping them facilitate the change and providing I.T. solutions, both in the software and hardware space. I have fond memories of working with so many HR managers and HR specialists across the company in Europe. I still meet up today with some of them (pre Covid-19) for coffee and a chat.
Tough Love (HR & IT)
Remember, these law changes were mandated and had hard deadlines. I.T. had to ensure HR could function as required. One simple message to the employees, might involve a number of I.T. services. Payroll and Benefits changes generally got the employees attention.
Communication channels were vital to ensure every employee knew about the new law. Software was needed to make this happen. Websites would be built to provide the vehicle for HR to talk to their employees. Video channels were needed for face to face discussions and WebAIRS.
As you could image the pressure to deliver was high, to fail first time was not an option. Dealing with tens of thousands of employees as we did was complicated. Feedback was vital to HR. I.T. provided these solutions as well. Due to the nature of HR, confidentially was paramount at all times. I.T Security and compliance was a must!
